The National African American Cultural Arts Examiner Years 2009-2016

The Examiner.com online journalism initiative, which took its brand name from San Francisco’s famous newspaper, from 2008-2016 published the works of professional nationally-known writers alongside that of many novice locally-focused contributors in the United States. This page documents known titles (beneath the slideshow) of most of the estimated 100-200 articles, poems, and essays written by Aberjhani for the platform in his role as its National African American Cultural Arts Examiner.
Before the pro-am Examiner.com journalism platform, which first operated under billionaire Philip Anschutz and Anschutz Entertainment’s Clarity Media Group, then later as part of AXS, shut down, it was host to column by written Aberjhani. At first launched as a National African Art Examiner column in 2009, it evolved into a more comprehensive cultural arts column focused on topics ranging from the creative arts to social activism, global politics, environmental injustice, and spirituality. In fact, many of the articles may be read as essays and considered among some of the author’s most important and impactful writing.

To date, however, this material has not been collected for publication in book form. Examiner’s abrupt end of publication July 2016 made it difficult for writers who relied solely on the platform to preserve their work to obtain records or files of it. Moreover, in Aberjhani’s case, data files lost to extreme climate events and other emergency situations make it difficult to determine exactly how many articles he wrote in his capacity as the National African-American Arts Examiner.  What follows is an inventory of articles known up to this point.
