B.C.: With his brother’s blood wet on his hands,
Cain ran vomiting future sorrows of man.
Petals of gold cloud
swirled bright eternal letters
too soon forgotten.
2575-2467 B.C.: Immersed in themes of an unfolding story,
Egypt’s Fourth Dynasty blazed pyramids of glory.
Before time or space,
Possibility’s Great Heart
sang creation’s birth.
April 23, 1564: Undaunted by her agony and tears,
Mary Arden gave birth to William Shakespeare.
A new sun and moon
shined pathways of choice leading
to hate, love, death, life.
April 5, 1614: Following love’s beacon through the night,
Matoaka and Rolfe married peace to red and white.
History dressed up
in the glow of love’s kiss turned
grief into beauty.

March 10, 1913: After putting slavery and democracy to the test,
Harriet Tubman claimed a well-earned rest.
The stink of human
blood clotting the soul’s nostrils
is less impressive.
February 4, 1968: “I just want to leave a committed life behind,”
said Martin Luther King, Jr., sharing visions with the blind.
Where humanity
sowed faith, hope, and unity,
joy’s garden blossomed.
July 20, 1969: “...One giant leap for mankind,” said Neil Armstrong,
living a miracle, for which many had striven hard and long.
Where ignorance shat,
violence and horror fed
the beasts of chaos.
September 11, 2001: Citizens of the U.S., besieged by terror’s sting,
rose up, weeping glory, as if on eagles’ wings.
As yet, within men,
women, and children––pathways
of choice still remain.

Quite a history lesson, thou dost tell, on 9/11 I shall no longer dwell. Within ourselves lays the choice to tell, I will write to prevent an unknown, future hell.

You set before us Good and Bad, Light and Darkness,... in succinct and concise manner.
Almighty God gave us all Free Will, to exercise as we see fit,... He also gave us his Holy Scripture and Ten Commnandments,.... as Moral Compasses to guide and direct us..
It is how we use and deploy that Free Will which maps the Course of History..

Much work went into the penning of this delightfully informative timeline. I do enjoy constructs that transcend the mundane and show the writer to be one of intelligence and also of intelligent application.
Too often those pathways of choice are relegated only to the small social arenas that we find succor in, and are influential in. More often than not, especially in this ever-evolving global village, we are confronted with our smallness and our ever-increasing need to find those of like mind and vision to bind together with in unity and purpose.
Aberjhani ... you are a man of profound depth, coupled with the ability to actually realize that depth in a way palatable and assimilable to those around you. For this I salute you.

You do so reveal how both pleasure and pain are two of the strongest human feelings as joy and sadness are the corresponding emotions. This is a fantastic journal-poem that takes us through the ages, highlighting the amazing feats and disasters, joys and sadnesses of we earth-dwelling creatures. Time has a way of softening many things but I don't imagine that 9-11 will soften too quickly. It was a message to the world as much as it was a message to America. Wonderful work, Aberjhani, one to save and read again and again.
