The preservation of diverse cultural arts, and the promotion of intercultural communication and cooperation, has been a major part of Bright Skylark’s mission ever since its founding in 2007. Commitment to achieving these objectives can be seen in this website’s support of initiatives undertaken by such organizations as PEN America, Academy of American Poets, Charter for Compassion, Letters to the Earth, and other organizations.
The COVID-19 pandemic along with the war in Ukraine and other violent conflicts in the world have made it clear that the practice of passing on one generation’s most valuable contributions to the next can no longer be taken for granted. Folklore, books, musical compositions and recordings, biographies, museums, unifying spiritual philosophies, and empowering traditions are targeted for obliteration in many different ways. The purpose of the Cultural Arts Heritage Project at Bright Skylark is to help prevent that from happening and to encourage others to do the same.
